Editing Log - Session 4

Editing Log - Session 4:
This session I was in attendance with both the Jacks also there to help. The idea of this session was to get as many shots as we can into the music video during this session. This would include several shots of band members, Lucy and myself lip syncing.

The idea was to piece together as shots to complete the chorus of the song as this bit was incomplete. Learning on mistakes and overcoming it this session was very successful. We completed what we aimed to do in the time limit we had.

We again used several tools such as the cut tool to gain the correct part to the clip, blade tool to create continuity from shot to shot and the turning down of the sound on the clip which isn't required. We also looked carefully by creating a relationship with the beat of the music. This is one of Goodwin's ideas. This was done by creating quick cuts alternating from two shots to exaggerate the instruments in the video.

This session we made a massive stride to making it suit the genre conventions. Using the correct shots and emphasising the narrative of binary oppositions with rural and urban establishing shots clear. Enigma also created as Lucy's face is not completely identifiable and semantic and symbolic features being used, of Barthes codes, as the audience question what the lyrics mean and who the main singer is singing about. In addition, using Goodwin's theory of relationships to the audio of the song helped us make it look professional.
