Editing Log - Session 1

Editing Log - Session 1:

The first session of editing primarily focused on uploading the content to the mac on to the software, Final Cut Pro x. It took around 20 minutes to upload on to final cut pro and due to lots of shots that we have taken making the process longer. 

After the content from our SD card finally was uploaded I began to download the song, Wonderwall, off of a MP3 download. This took 2 minutes and we added it to our film footage on final cut pro.

When downloaded and all our content lined up and ready to edit we began to match close ups of myself lip syncing to the actual audio of the song. Using several shots and precisely matching footage in timing with audio to make it look like I am singing. I mainly edited on this session cutting shots, splitting shots up using the blade tool and turning down the volume of shots to get rid of background noise. Jack Davenport and Jack Rundle helped put ideas forward of what shot would look good in certain aspects of the song. Their opinion helped create some good shots as well as my ideas also being brought to the table.

When we first reviewed our footage we were quite proud of what we had produced from the filming aspect as it has been bettered from last year's AS task as camera quality has improved, continuity of shots and varied amount of shots.

From this editing session we can take away the positives of idea contributions and creativity of the whole group adding the music video. We took on most ideas and this will benefit us in the next session with these ideas hopefully being put forward further along the editing process. However, the negative of this session was the time it took to upload our footage to the Apple Mac. This could have been solely focused on more editing rather than waiting and wasting 20 minutes.
