Wall Of Glass Lyrical Analysis

Wall of Glass Lyrical Analysis:

You would keep the secrets in ya'
You've been keeping paraphernalia, oh
I think you know
Anyone can walk up to ya'
Anyone can see right through your eyes
All night
And I don't mean to be unkind
But I see what's in your mind
And the stone you throw
Will turn back in its path
One day you'll shatter like a wall of glass
Wall of glass
Wall of glass
One day you'll shatter like a wall of glass
You believe in fascinations
And designer vaccinations, love
You get along
You were sold a one direction
I believe the resurrection's on
And you were wrong
And I don't mean to be unkind
But I see what's in your mind
And the stone you throw
Will turn back in its path
One day you'll shatter like a wall of glass
Wall of glass
Wall of glass
One day you'll shatter like a wall of glass
And I don't mean to be unkind
But I see what's in your mind
And the stone you throw
Will turn back in its path
One day you'll shatter like a wall of glass
Wall of glass
Wall of glass
One day you'll shatter like a wall of glass

Analysis:

The lyrics are very aggressive and hostile lyrics. 'Shatter like a wall of glass' portrays this a violent song due it being a violent act smashing glass and quite rebellious. Unkind, wrong and throw suggest an argument of some sort which might be message to his brother, Noel, in an attempt to say you want last long if you keep doing what you're doing i.e. shatter like a wall of glass suggesting he going to collapse and become worthless as well as meaningless.

This links to Barthes codes due to aggressive narrative (action), it is difficult to understand who he’s talking about is it his brother Noel? (Enigma). It makes the audience question true meaning and if it is aimed at Noel creates a sort of hype to see if he is going at Noel. The language suggests that he has said various times that Noel isn't like the one he knew of Oasis 'see right through your eyes' suggest that Liam is trying to say Noel has put on an act and isn't himself and has changed to fit with modern times and gain money and popularity(Semiotic). This allows it to be applied and others to make conspiracies about it and think is he actually aiming the song at Noel or not (Symbolic).

The reason he has applied this in his Lyrics is due to the fact he fell out with him and hasn't spoken to him in years. He is taking digs it him in a sense to become a little bit closer to him. He has said in various interviews he wants Oasis back and the 'old' Noel. This shows these lyrics are somewhat aimed at Noel as well as coming back on the scene and provoking his brother to do something and he has by responding with an album coming up called Noel Gallagher's high flying birds - who built the moon.

This is relevant as i can use these lyrics and hidden meanings to be sent across and displayed to the audience applying Goodwin's theory by using relationship between visuals, lyrics and the music videos. It would help put the message of the song across as well as looking professional.
